Councillor Sara Jones

Sara is Chairman of Pontypool Ski Racing. She is the Welsh outdoors masters ski champion, and won the 2019 GBR outdoor masters’ series. She is a mum of two, and works in the retail industry. She is also a local councillor.

“In 2012 I decided to stand for public office, I love where I live (Monmouthshire) and wanted to see more people involved in politics from under-represented groups. As a mum of two young children, and balancing a career plus non-executive director roles, it has certainly been a challenge! But it’s been incredibly rewarding. I’ve chaired our council’s Economy and Development Select Committee, and in 2017 I was appointed the Cabinet Member for Social Justice and Community Development. I’ve been involved in many local campaigns as well as developing our county wide strategic policies which will have a real impact on the lives of our citizens. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to be a County Councillor."

Sara is Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economy for Monmouthshire County Council.
